Copyright laws can be helpful and can be a nuisance to the Game Industry. It can help protect an artist's work and it can keep someone from stealing it and claiming it as their own. Sometimes copyright laws can be overused. A gaming company might sue another gaming company for an allusion to one of their games. Also suing someone might be bad for the company, as it might be bad for their fanbase. Overall, I think gaming companies overreact to small violations. I don't think the laws are the problem, it think it is the gaming companies that are the problem.

Colin from Prologue Games taught me that making video games is not as fun as it sounds. It can still be exciting, but it requires plenty of work, and there are many elements that are included in making a game. You have to get sponsors and advertising, and people to do different tasks such as sounds and animating. You also have to follow a strict schedule, meaning there is no time to slack off. In addition, if the project you are working on gets cancelled, you can be out of a job. Although this sounds like a difficult job, I still might look into a career or a side job in the Game Design Industry.
Last Thursday, we had a guest speaker come to our class to talk about his career in the film industry. I found out a lot of interesting things that they use in the film industry, such as 3D modeling, green screens, effects, and stunt doubles for practically every little stunt. I thought it was smart for film producers to make a 3D animation for a scene before they made it in real life, so they should know exactly how it should look, instead of writing directions on paper. Also they make 3D models of scenes, such as oceans, so they don't have to go out on the ocean to film a scene, especially in rough weather, which could be dangerous. Things that we do (or will do) in Sci Viz, such as animation, are used in the film industry to save money, keep people safe, and to make movies about magical characters that don't exist in real life such as unicorns and talking cars.
